Birthday Surprises
Getting a birthday surprise is not a normal occurrence for me.
Why? One, my birthday is on a holiday-month. Two, people just don't find me that important to be included in their holiday plans. Sad, I might say, but I think it's true.
It is different for this year, though. For once, I didn't celebrate my birthday with my family, because I have orientation right here in Bandung :') Even when the clock struck twelve on the 6th of July, I was interviewing some upperclassmen for my assignment. And on the day we have a city-race, it was quite fun. Even though it was so hot and tiring and my group didn't win the race.
No, the birthday surprise didn't happened that day. Rather, it came on the 28th of August. D+53, indeed.
The surprise was held in front of a place where anybody could see me and it was so embarrassing but it was so heart-warming because a lot of people came (other than the surprise planners aka Kak Grace and Diva and then the pubdok guys, even Kak Ruth who's an alumni, they said "ulang tahun kamu tuh dirayain se-PMK, loh leen!")
I feel really thankful (and embarrassed) and I can show off my balloons at the studio. I tied my balloons on my drawing desk but on the next Monday, all of it was gone :(
No, the surprise did not end there. On 9th September, it was the birthday of Ko Darryl, previously head of PMK's Pubdok division before Kak Arline took over. We celebrated his birthday on his boarding-room. What I didn't expect was that they decided to celebrate my birthday too that night, even singing the birthday song with the actual birthday boy playing guitar (and I feel very awkward because it's been so long). I felt like I just wanted to dig up a hole and hide there because of that situation but I can't say I'm not happy with what's happened.
I'm really thankful to God that I met all these precious people here that care enough about me. Just what did I do to be worth of their time?
